Wright Care At Home – October Newsletter
It’s been a hard decision on what to feature in this month’s newsletter. We have had lots going on at Wright Care at Home. So, we have had to try and spread it across the next two months. We completed the Great Eastern Half marathon in aid of the Stroke Association, we took part in the ‘Wear it pink’ initiative to raise money for ‘Breast Cancer.’ We have two new members to our team Jenny and Sarah. Employee of the month and we have been busy preparing our team and Winter tips and advice…. It’s also been a fantastic month for our carers delivering voluntary visits. We supported customers into the community and even on the drizzly days we still ventured out….
Wear it Pink – Breast Cancer research and awareness….
On Fri 20th October, we all delivered cupcakes to all our customers. We also raised money by holding a cake morning in our offices that we share with other local businesses.
Here are some features from our happy customers that gave us permission to share. We raised £36.60. Every little helps….
Employee of the Month….
This month our employee of the month goes to ‘Amy Measures’ Amy has been with us just over 3 months but has made a huge difference to our team. She is consistently recognised as a team player supporting her colleagues at all times. She recently was recognised and praised for her friendly yet professional approach ensuring in an emergency situation she stayed with the customer until help was reached.
She has carried out several voluntary visits, and this is a huge support to our customers really promoting independence.
Well Done Amy….
Mercury Business Award filming has been completed….
As you will have all seen in the mercury over the last few weeks we were shortlisted for two awards…. As part of this process we have now had two interviews where we were judged by an independent sponsor and attended Greetham Valley for filming…. We will find out on 10th November at a Gala Dinner if we have won an award. Kerrie Hughes and Vicky Souter will be there to represent the care team for us. Wish us luck.
Our team ran the Half Marathon….
We were delighted that we raised £928.75 for the Stroke Association. On the day we were all a little nervous whilst we were at the start line. Jess had a bad knee, Sammy has an achilles injury and we had all had the dreaded colds. However with the end in sight some 13.1 miles later and knowing how much of a difference we were making we all ran, and made it over the finish line. Babs who delivered our team talk back n March of 2017 following her stroke was there with her Husband to support us at 4 points along the course. Also some of the team came with our customers and seeing them at the end was just lovely, thank you to all of you who cheered us along and supported our prior months of training too.
Welcome Jenny to our team….
Jenny has joined our administration team at Wright Care at Home, as our team has grown there is more admin, so Jenny is now our ‘Girl Friday’ supporting with the background work. Welcome Jenny…. And Mabel the cute puppy too.
From the Care Manager….
I’d like to say a huge thank you this month to all of our care team for their huge involvement in our recent charity events. We had a real sense of team work and effort from the whole team and it was great to be part of something so special.
Also, a huge thank you to our customers who were part of it too.
It’s been very busy and as the dark nights come we are busy ensuring we are all prepared for the weather upcoming. Please see our tips and advice to stay safe over the next few months. This includes our team.
